The Project

"Green Education" is a simple Project which aims to create an IT lab and train a teacher from an economically unstable background in India, region of Karnataka.

The Project is simple and it does not require a large amount of money. It will be using recycled but fully functioning computers from companies that are changing their equipment to be in trend, but can be successfully used to achieve the basic training for children. For the first three months a volunteer teacher will be in charge to start up the Project and offer full training to a local teacher in order to insure the continuity of the educational process.

Once we can evaluate exactly the level of education and the age groups of students, a teaching curriculum will be created for the whole year. However, these classes won't be graded eliminating the stress of general schooling from this educational process.

Why India? We've chosen India as the starting point due to the saddening fact that at a population of 1,3 billion people, only 8% of the population knows the basics of using a computer. We trust that access to modern education can reduce the number of school abandonment while offering a chance to a better life.

The Project 'Green Education' does not belong to any type of organization, not even a non-governmental one. This is a personal, independent Project which wishes to gather the funds exclusively from people just like us, and does not wish to promote or associate its name with any company. Smaller actions like this, will hopefully have a bigger impact on the children life, than promoting a brand or selling social involvement to a company.

If you want to see some pictures from India and from what we did there, you can do so by entering on the Green Education Project Facebook page or with a click on the Photo Gallery tab.
